British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn and lived at Sutton-In-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of John and Mary Hayes, of Reform Street, Sutton-In-Ashfield. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting 9th September 1914 at Sutton-In-Ashfield. He went to France 2nd March 1915 and died, 25th September 1915, aged 19, from a compound fracture of the skull, received in action.

Buried: Bedford House Cemetery, Belgium. Enclosure No.3 Row C. Grave 2.
