Born at Nottingham and lived at 17, Suez Street, Basford, Nottingham. Son of Edward and Emily Hay, of 26, Warner Street, Radford, Nottingham. Husband of Annie Hay. He was a tobacco spinner prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, on 23rd April 1917, in the attack on the German positions at Bayonet Trench, near Arras, France.
