Born at Heeley, Yorkshire and lived in Sheffield, Yorkshire. Husband of Sarah A. Hawley, of Prospect Road, Sheffield. He was an auger filer prior to enlisting at Sheffield. He went to France 18th September 1915 and was killed in action, 22nd June 1917, whilst serving in the line near Ypres, Belgium.
