Private Harry Haslam

Army Number: 266746 (formerly 5247)
Battalion: 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Nottingham and lived at 37, Garfield Road, Nottingham. Son of William Rowland and Sarah Ann Haslam. He was a grocer’s errand boy prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
Commemorated: Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
