British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn at Whittington, Derbyshire and lived at Mayfield, Staffordshire. Son of Evan James and Rosa Hartill, of Hanging Bridge, Mayfield, Ashbourne. He was a cotton mill hand prior to enlisting 7th March 1911 at Ashbourne. He went to France 28th February 1915 and was killed in action, 5th May 1915, age 20, whilst serving in the line at Kemmel, Belgium.
