Private William Edward Hardy

Battalion: 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire. Son of William and Eliza Hardy, of Sherwood Street, Huthwaite. Husband of Mary Jane Hardy, of 34, King Street, Huthwaite. He was a coal miner at New Hucknall Colliery prior to enlisting in September 1914 at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He went to France 29th August 1915 and was twice wounded. He was killed in action, 6th August 1916, aged 26, whilst serving in the trenches at Longueval, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
