Battalion : 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Nottingham and lived at 7 Guildhall Street, Newark, Nottinghamshire. Son of Thomas and Fanny Hardy, of 25, Grimston Road, Radford, Nottingham. He was a crane driver at Ransome and Marles (Bearing Factory), Newark, prior to enlisting 8th September 1914 at Newark. He went to France 2nd March 1915 and was killed in action, 24th May 1915, age 20, being shot through the head by a German sniper whilst serving in the trenches at Kemmel, Belgium.
