Born and lived at Derby. Son of Samuel E. and Edith Hardy, of 178, Shaftesbury Crescent, Derby. He was a machine hand prior to enlisting 11th August 1914 at Derby. He went to France 9th February 1915 and was killed in action, 13th March 1915, aged 21, whilst serving in the line near Neuve Chappelle, France.
