Born at Heanor, Derbyshire and lived at Langley Mill, Derbyshire. Son of Alice Hardy. He enlisted at Derby, went to France 14th July 1915 and was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, during the attack near Beaumont Hamel, France during the Battle of the Somme.
