Battalion: 12th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Unstone, Derbyshire. Son of Herbert and Annie Elizabeth Hardwick, of 34 St. John Road, Unstone, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner (pony driver) prior to enlisting at Dronfield, Derbyshire. He went to France on 29th August 1915 and was killed in action, on 10th August 1917, by German shellfire whilst being employed on railway maintenance near Ypres, Belgium.

Buried: Voormezeele Enclosures No.1 and No.2, Belgium. Plot 1 Row F. Grave 26.
