Military MedalBritish War and Victory MedalBorn at Leicester. Son of Thomas and Martha Hancock, of Market Harborough, Leicestershire. Lived at Kettering, Northamptonshire. Enlisted at Derby 13th November 1914 went to France 26th October 1917 and was awarded the M.M. London Gazette 29th August 1918 “When on a fighting patrol on the night of 29th/30th March 1918, at Morar, near Granazza, Italy, which had gone out some 1500 yards in front of our line in search of the enemy, these men displayed conspicuous initiative and gallantry in rounding up a strong enemy post and driving them out of some fortified houses, where they had taken refuge and had endeavoured to put up a fight. Their conduct greatly contributed to the success of the patrol, which inflicted many casualties and brought back 3 prisoners”. He died 5th October 1918, age 32.
