Battalion : 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Wednesbury, Staffordshire and lived in Derby. Son of Mary A. Hampson. He enlisted at Nottingham and served in Gallipoli during 1915 with the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He returned to France and was posted to the 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment where he was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, during the attack near Beaumont Hamel, France during the Battle of the Somme.
