Battalion: 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Middleton, Derbyshire. Son of Herbert and Ann Jane Hallows, of Engine House, Middleton, Wirksworth, Derbyshire. He was a General Labourer for Swan and Ratcliffe prior to enlisting 20th March 1914 at Wirksworth. He went to France 28th June 1915 and was admitted to the 7th Casualty Clearing Station at Merville, France 3rd December 1915, suffering from cerebral concussion. He was transferred to No. 26 General Hospital at Etaples, France, 6th December 1915. He rejoined his battalion 9th January 1916, suffered gunshot wounds to his chest, 20th August 1916 and died of wounds, 30th August 1916, age 19, at No. 20 Casualty Clearing Station, Warlincourt, France.
