Lance Corporal Ernest Hale

Born at Radcliffe on Trent, Nottinghamshire. Son of Robert and Annie Hale, of 166, Curzon Street, Netherfield, Nottingham. Lived at Netherfield and was a tracer at Great Northern Railway. Enlisted at Carlton, Nottingham 5th November 1909. Was appointed Lance Corporal on 1st November 1914 and went to France on 2nd March 1915. He was killed in action, 5th October 1915, aged 22, during German shelling of the trenches at Vermelles, France.
Buried: Dud Corner Cemetery, Loos, France. Plot 3. Row K, Grave 9.
