Private Vernon Greenough

Battalion : 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Crich, Derbyshire. Son of William and Elizabeth Greenough, of 4 North View, Crich, Matlock, Derbyshire. He was a collier. He enlisted at Derby 4th June 1915 and went to France 6th March 1916. On the 21st October 1916, he received gunshot wounds and was admitted No. 13 General Hospital, Boulogne, France. He was then transferred to England on the hospital ship St. Dennis. He went back to France 6th June 1917 and was killed in action near Poelcappelle, Belgium 4th October 1917
