Company Quartermaster Sergeant George Frederick Green

Battalion : 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Lincoln, Lincolnshire and lived at 66, Nottingham Road, Mansfield, Nottingham. Son of Charles William Green, of 17, Whitehall Grove, Lincoln. He was a clerk prior to enlisting on 16th May 1915 at Mansfield. He was appointed Lance Corporal on 26th June 1915 and promoted Corporal, 27th July 1915. He was promoted to Sergeant 17th August 1915 and Company Quartermaster Sergeant Major, 20th September 1915. He went to France on 6th March 1916 and was killed in action, 22nd May 1916, aged 34, whilst in the line at Gorre, France.
Buried : Le Touret Military Cemetery, Richebourg-lAvoue, France. Plot 3, Row F, Grave 22.
