He was born at Riddings, Derbyshire and lived at Strelley, Nottinghamshire. Son of Sam and Eliza Ann Green, of Top Lodge, Strelley. He was an underground stock boy prior to enlisting at Warsop, Nottinghamshire. He was killed in action, 7th April 1917, during the attack at Le Verguier, north-west of Saint Quentin, France.
