Born at Sheffield, Yorkshire and lived at 6 Stubley Lane, Dronfield, Derbyshire. Son of Walter and Charlotte Emma Gray. He was a clerk prior to enlsiting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire and died of wounds 2nd October 1918, aged 31.

Buried: Menin Road South Military Cemetery, Belgium. Plot 1. Row C. Grave 13.
