Son of C. Godwin, of 35, Royal Crescent, Holland Park, London. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant 2nd May 1915 into the 13th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was transferred to the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 5th June 1916 and was killed in action, 10th October 1916, during the attack on the Schwaben Redoubt, near Thiepval, France during the Battle of the Somme.
