Battalion : 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Ruddington, Nottinghamshire. Son of William and Eunice Goddard, of Wilford Road, Ruddington, Nottinghamshire. He was brickyard labourer prior to enlisting at Nottingham. Served in the Gallipoli campaign during 1915. He was killed in action, 24th November 1916, during a German artillery barrage, whilst on a working party to the north of Beaumont Hamel, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
