He was born at Crich, Derbyshire and lived at Derby. Son of William and Elizabeth Gibson, of 42, Agard Street, Derby. He was a Moulder prior to enlisting on 1st February 1912 at Derby. He went to France on 28th February 1915 and was attached to the Machine Gun Section on 2nd March 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
