Private William Henry George

Army Number: 19838 (formerly 14367 Leicestershire Regiment)

Battalion: 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Hasland, Derbyshire and lived at 18 Loco Terrace, Hasland. Son of Joseph and Eliza Ann George, of 22, Grove Street, Hasland. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was killed in action, 26th September 1916, aged 21, in the attack on the German positions, near Ovillers, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
