Born and lived at Ripley, Derbyshire. Son of Hannah Hawkins. He was a Coal Miner prior to enlisting at Derby. He went to France 1st March 1915 and died of wounds, 23rd December 1916, at No. 20 Casualty Clearing Station, Warlincourt, France.
