Born and lived at Staveley, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son of James and Sarah Gasser, of 44, Speedwell Terrace, Staveley. Husband of Bessie Humberstone (formerly Gasser), of 59, Cemetery Road, Woodlands, Doncaster. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting, on 12th October 1914 at Staveley. He went to France on 28th June 1915 and suffered shell wounds to his back, on 27th August 1915. He was admitted to No. 1 North Midland Field Ambulance, transferred to No. 10 Casualty Clearing Station, Remy Siding, Belgium and died of wounds on 28th August 1915, aged 35.
