Born at Nottingham and lived at 49, Beauchamps Street, Carlton Road, Nottingham. Son of Harriet Gamble of 49, Beauchamps Street, Carlton Road, Nottingham. Husband of Emmaline Gamble, of 126, Garden Road, Nottingham. He was a hosiery factory hand prior to enlisting at Nottingham 29th May 1915. He went to France 6th March 1916, was appointed Lance Corporal 13th September 1916. He was treated at 133 Field Ambulance 7th October 1916 with a foreign body in his eye. He was transferred to the 3rd Casualty Clearing Station at Puchevillers, France, 8th October 1916 and onto the 13th Stationary Hospital at Boulogne, France, 9th October 1916. He rejoined his battalion 18th October 1916 and was killed in action 23rd December 1916 whilst serving in the line south of Ypres, Belgium.
