Private Walter Furness

Battalion: 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at New Whittington, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Brother of Alfred Furness, of 12, Cross London Street, New Whittington. He enlisted at Chesterfield and served in Gallipoli during 1915. He was killed in action, 26th September 1916, aged 24, in the attack on the German positions near Ovillers, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
