British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn and lived at Nuncar Gate, Nottinghamshire. Son of James and Hannah Franks, of 39, Portland Villas, Nuncar Gate. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He went to France 3rd May 1915 and was killed in action, 23rd July 1915, aged 20, whilst on digging fatigues at the Yser canal bank near Ypres, Belgium.
