Born and lived at Worksop, Nottinghamshire. Son of John and Annie E. Franklin. Husband of Phoebe Agnes Franklin, of 9 Newgate Street, Worksop. He was a general dealer in brushes and pots etc., prior to enlisting at Worksop. He was killed in action, 6th August 1917, by German shellfire, whilst employed on railway maintenance near Ypres, Belgium.
