He lived at 208 Uttoxeter Road, Derby. Son of William and Mary Francis, of Maesyflurd, The Grove, Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, Wales. He enlisted, 8th December 1914 at Derby, went to France 1st March 1915 and was killed in action, 26th June 1915, by a German shell whilst repairing dugouts at Sanctuary Wood, Belgium.
