Battalion : 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Langwith, Derbyshire and lived at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of William and Rosetta Foster, of 80, Broxtowe Drive, Mansfield. He was a coal miner at Crown Farm Colliery, Mansfield prior to enlisting 7th March 1913 at Mansfield. He went to France 2nd March 1915 and was killed in action, 30th April 1915, age 20, whilst serving in the line at Kemmel, Belgium.
