British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn and lived at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. Son of Harry and Jane Foster, of 57, Carlingford Road, Hucknall, Nottingham. Husband of Mary Ann Foster, of 25, Bolsover Street, Hucknall. He was a coal miner at Bestwood Colliery prior to enlisting 31st January 1911 at Kimberley. He was appointed Lance Corporal 26th September 1913 and promoted Corporal 1st November 1914. He went to France 2nd March 1915 and was promoted and Sergeant 10th May 1915. He suffered gunshot wounds to his abdomen at the Hohenzollern Redoubt, 14the October 1915 and was treated at 1/3rd North Midland Field Ambulance. He was transferred to No. 9 Casualty Clearing Station at Lillers, France where he died of these wounds 15th October 1915, aged 21.
