Born at Grassmoor, Derbyshire. Son of Levi and Sarah Fletcher, of Mill Houses, Temple Normanton, Derbyshire. Husband of Edith Fletcher. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He went to France on 27th August 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on the German positions at Ovillers. France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
