Born and lived at Matlock Bath, Derbyshire. Son of William and Lydia Finney, of Temple Walk, Matlock Bath, Derbyshire. He was a carpenter prior to enlisting 6th April 1908 at Cromford, Derbyshire. He went to France 25th February 1915 and was killed in action, 15th June 1915, aged 41, whilst serving in the trenches at Kemmel, Belgium.
