Born and lived in Nottingham. Husband of Maria Finch of 6, Beaumont Street, Sneinton, Nottingham. He was a factory spinner prior to enlisting on 6th September 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France on 28th February 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
