Born at Barkham, Sussex, and lived at Townsend Farm, Piddinghoe, Sussex, Son of Albert and Harriet E. Evenden, of Brighton, Sussex. He was a milkman prior to enlisting 19th September 1916 at Eastbourne, Sussex in the Training Reserve Battalion. Went to France 2nd March 1917, transferred to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 15th November 1917 and later posted to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He died in hospital of Diphtheria 8th February 1918, aged 19.
