Captain William Edwin Else

Army Number: formerly Private 2648 Royal Fusiliers.
Battalion: 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Lived at Fritchley, Ambergate, Derbyshire. Son of Charles Joseph and Hannah Scott Else, of Park Lodge, Fritchley. Husband of Ada Evelyn Else, of “West Leigh,” Ambergate. Educated at Dartford Grammar and Derby Schools and afterwards was engaged as a bank clerk at Parr’s Bank Matlock, Derbyshire. Commissioned 23rd January 1915. Killed by a sniper whilst in the line at Steenbeek, near Ypres, Belgium. 3rd January 1918, aged 24.
Buried: Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery, Belgium. Plot 13, Row H, Grave 7.
