Battalion: 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Wirksworth, Derbyshire and lived at 67, Nottingham Road, Belper, Derbyshire. Brother of William Else, North End, Wirksworth. He was a Collier at Denby Iron and Coal Company, Derbyshire prior to enlisting on 22nd May 1914 at Buxton. He went to France on 1st March 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
