Born and lived at Broadstreet, Boxford, Suffolk. Son of William and Catherine Eley, of Stone Street, Boxford, Suffolk. Husband of Bertha Annie B. Eley, of 9, Carr Street, Ipswich. He was a thatcher and vermin destroyer prior to enlisting at Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk. He died of wounds 18th September 1917, aged 30.

Buried : Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium. Plot 19. Row D. Grave 7.
