Born at Derby and lived at Nottingham. Son of Henry and Elizabeth Egner, of 17, Sketchley Street, Nottingham. ; Husband of Emma Briggs (formerly Egner), of 61, Carlton Road, Nottingham. He was a animal skin dresser prior to enlisting at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He was killed in action, 28th July 1917, aged 27, whilst out on a working party near Philosophe, France.
