Lance Corporal Harry Edge

Battalion : 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at New Mills, Derbyshire and lived at Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire. Son of Stephen Baynton and Ellen Jane Edge, of 7, Bridge Mont, Whaley Bridge. He was a Labourer in a Calico Print Works prior to enlisting 1st February 1915 at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He went to France 20th September 1916, was appointed Lance Corporal 24th November 1916 and was killed in action, 19th December 1916 aged 21, when the Germans shelled the trenches at Foncquevillers, France.
