Battalion : 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at North Wingfield, Derbyshire. Husband of Frances Edge, of 85, Chesterfield Road, North Wingfield. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting, on 22nd August 1914 at Clay Cross. He went to France on 18th May 1915 and suffered gunshot wounds to his head on 30th March 1916. He was admitted to 33 Casualty Clearing Station at Bethune, France, on 8th April 1916. He was admitted to a hospital in Calais, France, on 10th April 1916 and was transferred to England on Hospital Ship Antwerpen, on 28th April 1916. He died from these wounds, on 12th July 1916 at Northampton General Hospital.
