Son of Thomas and Sarah Durkin, of 1 St Mary Place, Chesterfield, Derbyshire; Husband of Dora Durkin, of Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner before enlisting. He served in Gallipoli in 1915 with the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, and died of broncho-pneumonia, 7th January 1918, aged 26.
