Born in Nottingham, 1st February 1894. Son of Alfred Thomas and Louise Lucille Dobson, of “The Yews,” Beeston, Nottingham. He was educated at Stonyhurst College, Clitheroe, Lancashire. In May 1914 he received a commission as Second Lieutenant in the 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was promoted to the rank of Temporary Lieutenant in November 1914 and went to France on 25th February 1915. He was killed in action, 15th June 1915, aged 21, whilst serving in the line by German shellfire near Kemmel, Belgium.
