He was posted to the 5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. 14th June 1917 . He went to France 4th October 1917. He went to Italy 9th November 1917, He returned to rance and was Killed in action when in the attack near Le Cateau, France., 09/10/1918, aged 36,
