Battalion: 5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of Thomas James and Eliza Dean, of 100, Ashbourne Road, Derby. He was accidentally killed by an unexploded grenade, on 8th April 1919, whilst clearing the battlefield after the war and whilst serving with the Labour Corps (601508).

Buried: Hamel Military Cemetery, Beaumont-Hamel, France. Plot 2. Row F. Grave 41.
