Born and lived at Stapleford. Son of William and Harriet Daykin, of 51, Lot Street, Stapleford, Nottingham.He enlisted at ilkeston, Derbyshire ans killed in action whilst on a working party near Hill 70 near Loos 20th October 1917, age 19.

Buried: Philosophe British Cemetery, Mazingarbe, France. Plot 2. Row V. Grave 8.

He is also commemorated on St. Helen’s Church war Memorial, Stapleford.
