Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at New Mills, Derbyshire. and lived at 24 Brookside, New Mills. Son of John and Matilda Dawson, of 36, Wirksmoor Road, New Mills, Derbyshire. He was a Plater in Bleachcroft prior to enlisting at Buxton, Derbyshire. He went to France 18th May 1915 and was killed in action, 5th October 1916, whilst serving in the line near Fouquieres, France.
