Born at Ollerton, Nottinghamshire. Son of Frederick William and Minnie Davis, of Rhodedenrum Lodge, Rufford Abbey, Ollerton. He was a gardener prior to enlisting on 27th August 1914 ar Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He went to France on 9th February 1915 and was killed in action, on 11th March 1915 during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, France.
