Private George Davis
Army Number: 76469 formerly 03295 Army Ordnance Corps.
Battalion: 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Gossoms End, Hertfordshire. Son of Sarah Ann and Thomas Arthur Davis, of 11 Eddy Street, Gossoms End. He was a storeman prior to enlisting on 28th December 1914 at Watford. He went to France on 11th January 1917 and was transferred to the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, in February 1917. He was treated at 35 General Hospital, Calais, France for an eye injury and sent to England on Hospital Ship Dieppe, on 9th March 1917. He returned to France and was killed in action, on 20th September 1917, in the attack on Bulgar Wood, near Ypres, Belgium.
