Born at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire and lived at 12 Stonyford Lane, Skegby, Nottinghamshire. Son of Benjamin and Emily Davies. He was a miner at Blackwell Colliery, Nottinghamshire. Killed in action, 19th July 1916.

Buried: Connaught Cemetery, Thiepval, France. Plot 1. Row C. Grave 14.
